The diving in Pacific Harbour is everything that you dream about when you think of a Pacific Island, a beach full of shading palm trees, clear blue water and reefs that makes you feel like you are in an aquarium. The Pacific is always a natural first hit regarding good diving. The visibility in the water is usually outstanding, the reefs are easy to get too.

If you are in Fiji, and have to choose where to do your course, it must be mentioned that Pacific Harbour is very famous for its educating Shark Dive. This is however reserved for divers with more experience, and what better way to get experience than doing your Advanced course?

Pacific Harbour is located on the picturesque Queen's Highway that follows the south coast of the main Fijian island of Viti Levu. With Nadi 2 hours west and Suva 45 min east it is easily accessible but manages to slide under the radar of the package tourism hordes that can ruin a destination. The locals are friendly and welcoming, the water's clear and warm and the atmosphere is definitely set to "island time".

On the day of arrival you will be greeted by the friendly staff, shown your room and given an orientation of the area and of the diving or courses you will be doing. You'll do two dives a day on diving days. Between dives you'll hang out on the boat where there's water and snacks available, all included.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most popular diving certificate worldwide. After completing this 3-4 day course you are certified to dive to 18 m independently with a buddy. The course consists of five modules of learning. You study via self-study workbook and complete a knowledge review. The instructor reviews everything with you to ensure that everything are confidently understood. The practical learning consists of pool sessions and four open water dives. The final stage of the PADI Open Water course is an exam, which is a multiple choice exam covering all that you have learnt. The course generally takes 3 to 4 days, with the theoretical, the pool and the open water part successfully passed. The only stress here is deciding which of the delicious meals to order each evening to restock your energy for the next shark dive. With only ten rooms, you'll be on first name terms with the staff and other guests within hours of arriving and you’ll be genuinely sorry to leave your new friends behind on departure.


You need to let the dive center know your arrival at least one week in advance. You will find the details for the dive center on your voucher.


Meals can be purchased in the restaurant.
